History
The hospital was established under the leadership of then Rizal Governor Isidro S. Rodriguez and Mayor Osmundo de Guzman of Marikina, who dreamed of a community hospital that would provide the necessary health services for the residents of Marikina and its adjoining towns. This gained the support of Senator Jovito R. Salonga who then sponsored a bill, which was approved by Congress as Republic Act 3862 of 1964 which mandated the creation, construction in CY 1965 and the subsequent inauguration and operation on May 15, 1966 of the Marikina Emergency Hospital with authorized bed capacity of 25.
The Department of Health on July 1969 increased its bed capacity from 25 to 50 beds. It was during this period that thru an Act of Congress as sponsored by then Congressman Frisco San Juan, renaming Marikina Emergency Hospital to Eulogio Rodriguez Sr. Memorial Hospital (ERSMH) in honor of the late Senate President.

2015 National Hospital Week
The observance of International Women’s Day (IWD) was a result of the organizing activities of women in the early 20th Century. Between 1909 and 1911, working women in the United States participated in organizing strike activities of the National Women’s Trade Union League and other concerned groups. They were responding to the low wages, lack of protective legislation and the poor working conditions to which women workers were subjected during that time.
